St James’ Clubs
We use Parent Pay in school for all Club payments. This means pupils don’t need to carry cash and you can check balances at any time. If you need any help with parent pay please contact the school office.
Some of our After School Clubs require a weekly payment to cover costs. If your child would like to take part but you are worried about payment, don’t let this deter you, just please get in touch with the school office, where we will be happy to discuss.
Arts Award
At St James’ we give 10 of our Year 6 pupils the opportunity to take part in Arts Award Explore which is a nationally recognised qualification. The qualification is designed to encourage children to actively take part in visual art activities such as visiting galleries, looking at artists’ work, creating art and designing their own exhibitions. Arts Award runs in school every Thursday 3:30 – 4:30 More information can be found here
Mini Vinnies
Mini Vinnies gives our KS2 children the chance to be part of the St Vincent de Paul (SVP) Society England and Wales. The SVP is an organisation dedicated to tackling poverty in all its forms. Mini Vinnies meet to pray, discuss and support however they can to help make a difference in their community. Mini Vinnies runs in school every Wednesday 3:30 – 4:30pm. Faith in Action Award
At St James we give our children in Year 6 opportunity to participate in the Faith in Action Award. Faith in Action rewards young people for their active service in helping to build the Kingdom of God on Earth. To
gain the award at ‘Pin Level’ the children will be required to accrue credits of service in their parish, school
or wider community. This might involve fundraising, sending letters to their MP or visiting the elderly. Faith in Action Award runs in school every week during lunchtime. More information can be found here
Chess Club
Chess Club is offered to our children in KS2. The club is a chance for your child to learn the game of chess in a safe, happy and structured setting. Chess has been proven to improve cognitive skills, thinking skills, problem solving skills and can support social and relationship building amongst peers. Chess Club takes place in school on a Thursday evening from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.
ICT Club
ICT Club is offered to our children in KS2. The club is a chance for your child to broaden their skills around ICT in a safe, secure and happy environment. ICT club takes place in school on a Tuesday evening from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.
Film Club
Film club is offered to our children in Year 5 and Year 6. The club is a chance for your child to experience and evaluate a variety of films in a safe, happy and structured setting. This may include discussing the director, actors, the films historical context or links to topics in school. Members will be encouraged to share their thoughts and interpretations. Film club takes place in school on a Wednesday evening from 3:30pm to 4:30pm
Creative Arts Club
Creative Arts Club is offered to our children in KS2. The club is a chance for your child to experience the creative arts in a safe, happy and structured setting. We will incorporate singing, dancing and acting into our sessions which will culminate in a performance which will be presented to our peers during assembly once a term. Creative Arts club takes place in school on a Wednesday evening from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.
SAFC Clubs at St James’
Little Dribblers
Little Dribblers is specifically designed to engage young children in fun sport and learning activities, while making raising their confidence, independence and coordination.
Each session is delivered by our specialist SAFC PE coach Thomas, Little Dribblers ensures that youngsters develop interpersonal skills, promote problem-solving skills and introduces concepts such as spatial awareness, all while having lots of fun with a football. Little Dribblers Club runs in school every Thursday 3:30 – 4:30pm and alternates half-termly between our Year 1 and Year 2 children.
Sports Club
Our Sports Club familiarises children with the building block techniques of football, such as dribbling, passing, receiving and shooting.
Each session is delivered by our specialist SAFC PE coach Thomas with an emphasis on fun and engagement, with the technical aspects being developed during small-sided games with age appropriate questions, demonstrations and challenges. Sports Club runs in school every Wednesday 3:30 – 4:30pm and alternates half-Termly between our Year 3 and Year 4 children.
