We have had a fantastic time celebrating the run up to Easter at St James. We have held our annual KS1 and KS2 Easter discos. We have decorated our Easter Eggs for our competition and hosted our Big Easter Raffle. Easter is so important to us as it marks the resurrection of Jesus and is a symbol of hope and renewal. We hope everyone has a safe and peaceful Easter holiday.
Open the Book – Present the story of Noah’s Ark
Thank you to Open The Book part of the Bible Society for presenting the story of Noah to the children today. God told Noah to build a big boat called an ark and then gather two of every kind of animal, one male and one female, to bring with them onto the ark. God explained that he was going to send a great flood to cleanse the earth, and the ark would keep Noah, his family, and all the animals safe. Thank you to everyone involved!
Lenten Mass at St James Church
Lent is a time when we reflect and try to make a change to our lives so that we are closer to God. During Lent we pray and often give something up so that we can change the lives of others.
CAFOD Big Lent Walk!
Thank you to all of our children, staff and volunteers who took part in the The Big Lent Walk today in aid of CAFOD. Together we raised more than £100 for this very special cause! Thank you to Mrs Scott and our Mini Vinnies for helping promote this event with their artwork and posters. We would also like to thank all of the Staff and students at St Joseph’s Catholic Academy for accompanying our children on their walk and being so welcoming and kind to us all, it was lovely to visit our Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust family school again. We must also say thank you to all of the folk in Hebburn who tooted their horns and cheered us on throughout our walk! FANTASTIC WORK EVERYONE!

Year 6 Visit SafetyWorks!
Our Year 6 children had a brilliant time at SafetyWorks! which is an interactive Safety Centre and is organised by Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service. SafetyWorks! provides realistic and interactive scenarios which enable the children to learn practically about the importance of fire safety, home safety and personal safety. Our children left the workshop with the skills to avoid potential accidents and reduce accidental injuries.
Swimming Gala Final!
Congratulations to our team who qualified in the South Tyneside Primary Swimming Gala as part of South Tyneside School Sport Network. We were one of six schools who represented South Tyneside in the final and were delighted to come home to St James with a bronze medal!
