Red Nose Day 2024
What a wonderful day we have had together celebrating Red Nose Day!
Comic Relief is there for people who are facing the toughest times of their lives. All year-round, the money donated to Comic Relief works hard to support some incredible projects making a change to people’s lives across the UK and around the world. In fact, over the last few years, Comic Relief funding has helped to support 3 million people.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Comic Relief this year. We have raised £128 so far for this brilliant cause, the account will remain open until next week!
Work is well and truly underway!
Mrs Heslop popped into St James with her hard hat on today to check in on the progress of works… WOW!!!!!! So much is coming together already – Well done Terry and the Team pulling out all of the stops to get us back home!
World Book Day 2024 – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle…. Re-read!
Wow… what a day! There is no doubt that World Book Day 2024 has been one of our greatest yet. The children of St James fully embraced our theme ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle… Re-read’ to the max and have blown us away with some incredible homemade props, accessories and costumes which linked to our theme. World Book Day is about the celebration of reading and one particular book has been at the heart of our day.
‘Mother Earth is Weeping’ is a story which focuses on how we can better our world and become more environmentally friendly. The children have produced some beautiful poetry based on this which will form one of our first display boards when we are all together back in our St James building. The author of our story, Claire Donald, has been in touch and is also blown away with the children’s efforts. She has kindly offered to judge our ‘trashion walk’ competition and the winners will be announced next week.
Chadwick Celebration Awards 2024
One of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trusts values is Celebration and we want to celebrate
all our staff across the Trust who go that extra mile. There are seventeen categories this year and as
last year only pupils can nominate in the Inspirational Staff Award category.
We would like you to think about all the staff at your school the Headteacher and teachers, the
teaching assistants, the office staff, the kitchen staff, caretaking team etc. If there is someone that
you think has done a really good job then you can nominate them for this award.
St James’ Christmas Lunch and Surprise Visitor at St Joseph’s
Thank you to our wonderful St James’ kitchen staff, the kitchen staff at St Joseph’s and all at Chadwick’s Kitchen for providing a fabulous and delicious Christmas Lunch for our Reception to Year 4 children. A special thanks to Santa Claus for taking time out of his busy schedule and visiting our younger children. Thank you to the children of St Joseph’s for providing fabulous entertainment during lunch.
St James Christmas Carol Concert
Thank you to everyone who attended our Christmas Carol Concert at St James Church on Friday 15th December. The children all sang and read beautifully and were a credit to themselves, the school, their families and the wider parish community. I’m sure you will agree the candlelight against the backdrop of Church really encapsulated the true meaning of Christmas. The tree was filled with our advent stars which the children had lovingly decorated. Thank you to everyone who supported our school fund. Special thanks to Michael Cuskin and Deacon Peter Jones for their help with the service.
