We had a visit from our Open the Book team in school. Open the Book is an exciting storytelling project where Bible stories are shared with children in a way that is fun, interactive and memorable. Year 4 at the Beacon of Light
Year 4 enjoyed an amazing day at the Beacon of Light. We took part in team building games, met inspiring people from different companies, took a tour of Stagecoach Buses and even had a history tour of the area around the stadium! As always our children represented St James wonderfully. Thanks to everyone involved in organising such a brilliant event!
Key Steps Gymnastics
Well done to our gymnasts who represented St James in the Key Steps Gymnastics event. The children had a great time learning new skills and working with children from other schools thanks to South Tyneside School Sport Network and all who organised this event!
Happy Tu BiShvat!
We would like to wish all of our Jewish brothers and sisters a happy Tu BiShvat.
Tu BiShvat is a “birthday” for all of the trees born in the previous year. It is a “new year” for the trees. Many people celebrate it by gathering together for a Tu BiShvat seder with figs, dates, and other delicious Israeli fruits.

At St James we are proud to be Eco Warriors! We even have a battery recycling point in the school office.
Battery recycling is essential for protecting our environment and is an easy way to play your part in protecting the planet. So, next time your battery runs out—recycle it! Let’s make battery recycling a bright spot at St James. Any batteries can be brought into the school office where they will be collected for recycling! 
Mental Health Matters at St James
3rd – 9th February was children’s mental health week. This week was designed to encourage more people to start talking, spread the word and support children’s mental health.
We had a fantastic assembly which was delivered by Emily our Healthy Minds consultant. Emily helped us to recognise different emotions and gave us support on how we can manage them.

Just Keep Swimming St James
We would like to say a HUGE well done to our St James Swimmers who attended the South Tyneside Swimming Gala yesterday.
The team were FANTASTIC and represented St James wonderfully at the event!
It was commented that “the standard of swimming was the highest it has ever been and a great reflection of the positive attitudes shown throughout the afternoon by all participants”.
We are delighted to announce that we made it to the South of Tyne finals which will be held in March.

Chinese New Year 2025
Celebrating Chinese New Year in school is a wonderful way to promote cultural awareness and understanding among our children. During this festival, many participate in activities such as cleaning their homes, attending vibrant parades and giving gifts to bring good fortune for the upcoming year.
The children enjoyed a Chinese inspired menu together at lunch time and activities throughout the day to celebrate together.
Girls Football Team
Well done to St James girls who battled hard in three very tough, against strong opposition on Wednesday afternoon.
The girls worked hard for each other and played until the final whistle in each of those games.
They sit in mid table going into the third round of games later this term.
