Every year in England, school children in Reception and Year 6 have their height and weight checked at school as part of the National Child Measurement Programme. Height and weight measurements are used to calculate weight status. This information is collected because it is in the public interest to understand how many children are overweight, healthy weight or underweight and offer support to parents where required. Your child’s class will take part in this year’s programme.
Please refer to the letter linked below which includes full information about the height and weight checks for Reception and Year 6 parents and carers.

It’s wonderful to have all of our lovely children back after the Christmas break. We would like to thank all of our parents for the beautiful gifts and cards received at the end of the term, although this is never expected it is vey much appreciated.
Mrs Franklin would like to extend her thanks to all of our families who celebrated her retirement after 31 years with St James’. To say she was overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness would be an understatement. She will truly miss all of the children, staff and families.

Our children were invited to St Aloysius Church to sing at the Alzheimer’s Christmas Party. It was a wonderful opportunity to bring Christmas Spirit to our friends at the parish.
The children performed beautifully, their behaviour was as always exceptional and their understanding toward the audience was heart warming!

We were proud to be a part of a wonderful Carol Service with the Trust. Dozens of children took part in this carol concert and it involved all of Bishop Chadwick schools around the North East. Angelic voices certainly warmed up the chilly night which included our Darcey Burke. Darcey sang beautifully and her bidding prayer reading was exquisite. We also wanted to say a huge well done to Harry Wright who had practiced for the night with gusto. However was poorly for the actual performance and couldn’t attend. Both children were an exceptional representation of our St James family.

Following our Remembrance day craft session with the wonderful residents from Bedewell Grange, our friends invited us back to share a beautiful Afternoon Tea to say thank you. The children enjoyed sharing treats and stories with the residents and looked magnificent in their new St James Mini Vinnies Hoodies! The children were thrilled to receive a gift from the residents.
