The ‘Friends of St. James’ is a parent teacher group whose primary role is to raise funds for the school. These funds are usually for particular pieces of school equipment to improve the play environment and are separate from the schools learning equipment budget. The group also uses funds to support families who may have difficulty accessing school experiences like trips and residential visits which require a contribution from parents.
The Friends of St. James were established in 2011 by staff member Ros Hudson and Parent Champion Joanne Lamb- Thompson. It was founded to replace the Kids Under Cover group which had closed down in 2010.
Fundraising activities include school fairs, theme days raffles and coffee afternoons, the money raised makes a massive contribution to what the school can provide. It is a great way to support your children and community so why not get involved? Perhaps you have business contacts who could support us or previous fundraising experience or maybe you just want to make a difference. We are always looking for more people to join us and make school more exciting for the children.
If you would like to attend a meeting please contact the school to find out when the next one is, you will be made very welcome.
New seating and a covered area in the playground was built with money raised by the Friends of St. James.
